My teaching career began in Manchester, England, where I qualified as a teacher of English on the Teach First scheme. I taught in state secondary schools there for four years before moving in to international education. This began in 2012 with a move to Dulwich College Beijing in China - a dynamic school and city that offered much of the life and challenge that I am seeking here at Park Lane. Following this I spent three years at a prestigious Swiss boarding school.
To me, English Language and Literature symbolise two things: communication and experience. Through our learning and application of the English language, we open doors of expression and a means of engaging with millions of people across our planet. English Literature attempts to answer the question – what is it like to wake up in the Universe? Through a love of literature, we can learn more about who we are and experience people and places we have yet to encounter. I love sharing this enjoyment and experiencemwith the students I teach.
In my free time I enjoy live music, skiing and of course reading.
