The Park Lane IB Scholarship Fund
To encourage able and industrious learners to benefit from the high-quality education offered at Park Lane International School, the school board founded a scholarship scheme for academically gifted students in February 2013.
The Park Lane Scholarship Fund
The scholarship scheme for secondary school students offers considerable potential for the selected beneficiaries and for the school itself. With this in mind – and in keeping with the spirit of scholarship schemes internationally – Park Lane aims to assist academically talented children whose parents may not have considered enrolling them at an international school, either for financial reasons or for lack of awareness or accessibility to a scholarship programme. Accordingly, the Park Lane Scholarship Fund has been established to raise financial support from private benefactors and corporate sponsors in order to guarantee the on-going success of the scholarship scheme.
The Scholarship Scheme
Successful applicants are selected through a challenging selection process which tests English and mathematical ability as well as logic and reasoning skills, and the applicant’s personal capacity to benefit from Park Lane‘s learner-centred pedagogy. The selection committee, led by the school principal, assesses each applicant‘s school records for the last two years and conducts interviews with the candidate and his / her parents.
Successful candidates benefit from an individualised learning approach, an international curriculum including IGCSE courses (14-16), followed by the world-renowned IB Diploma Programme (16-18). Park Lane’s highly qualified educators continually assess and monitor students’ individual needs and use a wide range of technology to facilitate teaching and learning.
Students joining Years 10-11 follow the Cambridge IGCSE programme, which includes a broad range of compulsory and elective courses
All students wishing to join the IB Diploma Programme, which begins in Year 12 (16-17), must provide evidence of their readiness to embark on this challenging and academically rigorous programme. Applicants are required to take entrance examinations (English, Mathematics and aptitude tests) and must provide school reports for their +14 studies. Students who excel in the entry tests, and those who are able to demonstrate a strong record of success in their IGCSE, GCSE or equivalent studies in another school system, will be eligible for scholarships.

The scholarship fund sponsors The Park Lane Scholarship Fund is actively seeking sponsors for the scholarship awards scheme for academically gifted students. Such partnerships could include (but are not limited to):
- the opportunity to be directly associated with the Park Lane International School community, which includes many influential and well-connected members of Prague society as well the expatriate sector; the potential to promote your company/ organisation and its mission via the school website, news bulletin and other school publications/ media, including advertising banners and in-school displays;
- a guaranteed profile at major school events and functions which are usually also open to the wider community, ensuring maximum reach.
Principal benefactors will be invited to join the Park Lane scholarship committee and will consequently be able to play a direct role in the development of the scholarship programme going forward.
As an international school, Park Lane promotes a spirit of cooperation in a cosmopolitan environment where tolerance and respect are fundamental values. Park Lane’s young scholars learn to think creatively and independently while valuing the views and contributions of others.
It is fully expected that Park Lane’s graduates will be credible candidates for entry to premier universities in the UK, the United States and elsewhere. As recent surveys indicate, the majority of Czechs who study abroad return home with knowledge, skills and life experiences which potentially foster the development of the Czech Republic, strengthening the economic and social prospects of future generations. Financial donors may therefore expect that their contributions will significantly influence the educational and career prospects of talented and highly motivated students who will, in turn, repay the generous support they have received by making their own positive contributions to their own societies in years to come.
