Prior to teaching I worked in fields ranging from film production and acquisitions to translating and interpreting. However, it has been my 14 years of experience in international education, both in Europe and the U.S., where I have really thrived and developed. I received my M.A. degree in Critical Studies in Media and Communication at the European Graduate School in Switzerland and my undergraduate degree in Theater Arts at the University of California in Santa Cruz. In between the two degrees I also obtained my TEFL teaching qualification in Boston.
For the last five years I worked in the private education sector in the U.S., where I was the Curriculum Developer and Head Teacher of a university preparatory program for international students. The successful track-record of my course saw student acceptances into highly reputable North American universities. I have also helped students successfully apply to top-tier universities and institutes in the UK, Australia, France and Italy.
I am passionate about getting students engaged in their own learning process and personal development. My aim is for students to use research and critical thinking in determining their preferred universities based on a holistic criterion of good fit, while guiding them to effectively balance their various academic and extracurricular commitments in their final years of secondary school.
I have a wide range of interests, of which languages and cultures plays a large part due to having lived in several countries from infancy onward.
I am delighted to join Park Lane as of autumn 2018 and collaborate with such an impressively talented pool of teachers and staff. As the University Guidance Counsellor, Careers Education Leader and Klárov site Learning Centre Supervisor, I very much look forward to creating a supportive, friendly and dynamic environment for students.
