Kathryn Brandwood

Head of Year 10 and Lead Teacher of Biology

Although born in Manchester in the North West of England, I lived much of my early childhood abroad, in Dubai and Cyprus. After returning to the UK for my teenage years of schooling I graduated from the University of Leeds in 2006 with a degree in Medical Microbiology. I continued immediately onto a PGCE at the University of Manchester and so began teaching in 2007. I have worked at a range of schools and colleges in the UK teaching across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. It was during this time that I completed my Masters in Education, which was awarded in 2010. I then moved to Jordan and it is there that I worked as a science and biology teacher as well as a Head of Year and as the Extended Curriculum Co-ordinator. My guiding principle as a teacher, and as a citizen of the world, is that there is always more to learn and I hope to encourage my students to be as awed and inspired with the world around them as I am.

When not in school I enjoy experimenting with food through cooking and baking. I also love to expand my understanding of the world by travelling, learning new languages and becoming aware of customs and traditions different to those I was raised with. I feel very fortunate and proud to be part of such an outstanding school.
