I’m from Cheshire, England. Before joining Park Lane I taught at a comprehensive school in Lancashire. I studied as an undergraduate at the University of Leeds, where I completed a joint honours degree in mathematics and music. Following that, I studied an MA in international relations at Durham University.
I left university wanting to do something practical with my subject knowledge, and chose teaching through a desire to work with and inspire young people.
I’m keen to alter students’ perceptions about mathematics; it is sometimes dismissed as a subject that lacks creativity, but this is not the case! I’d also like students to appreciate the important role that music plays in our lives, and how participation in music can help develop cognitive skills outside of the classroom, and confidence levels. I always aim to make the beauty of both mathematics and music visible to the students that I teach.
Park Lane is a unique school, with so much to offer its teachers as well as its students, so it is a genuine privilege to work amongst such enthusiastic staff and young people.
