National Curriculum Overview

Park Lane International School follows the National Curriculum of England as a framework for educating our students. What is a "curriculum"? It's a set of learning goals and assessment strategies for students that are age and skill level-appropriate. The National Curriculum of England is simply a way to ensure that teaching and learning is balanced, consistent and

developmentally appropriate.

It sets out the subjects that are to be taught by our teachers, what the students should learn (skills, knowledge and understanding), the attainment targets that show progress and how the progress is to be assessed.

The National Curriculum of England is not meant to be a rigid plan for learning. On the contrary, there is a great deal of flexibility and freedom for our teachers and our staff to organise lessons and units in ways that suit our students and work with their strengths and support any learning difficulties. This flexibility is especially important for our students

who are learning English as an additional language. At Park Lane, our teachers engage our students in hands-on learning where students can learn through play, songs, and apply this knowledge to their own lives. Our educators plan for our students so that they learn not only the skills but also the language that goes along with these skills.

At Park Lane International School, we are proud to be leaders in learning! Starting in Reception, Czech is taught at school by qualified Czech teachers so that our students will have the knowledge and skills required to successfully finish secondary school. They will sit not only International GCSE (General Certificate of Secondary Education) exams but the Czech leaving exams as well. In order to make this possible, we have committed to increased learning hours so that we can offer our Czech and non-native Czech speakers an intensive Czech programme so that they can continuously work hard to increase their proficiency in the Czech language.
