Native Language Lessons
Park Lane International School understands the importance of native language acquisition. We value the learning of mother-tongue languages. We are one of the few international schools in Prague to offer home languages such as Czech, German, French and Japanese as a part of our school day. As a result, our children retain a strong sense of self-esteem in relation to their own culture and language.
In order to accommodate the wealth of languages that make up our school community, we will offer language lessons in the 2009-2010 school year for children of families who speak German, French, Spanish, Japanese and Polish where interest and numbers warrant. Language lessons will be offered from 8:30-9:15 to children who are native speakers of that language.
Czech Language
Park Lane International School is proud to be located in Prague, Czech Republic and has taken steps to ensure that students learn not only Czech language but Czech history and culture as well. Cultural events and trips help students to gain an appreciation for their home country, whether they are Czech or if they are foreign students who have a family making the Czech Republic their home.
Czech for Foreigners
We offer an intensive Czech for Foreigners programme for parents who wish for their child to improve their Czech. These classes will run twice a week from 8:30-9:15.
Czech Programme
We are very proud of our Czech Programme, which begins in Reception for native Czech speakers. Children are introduced not only to the language but also to the culture and history of their country. Czech children have to be enrolled in one of the local basic schools so that they can take the Czech early language exam and, in higher grades, the national history and geography exams.
We offer Art, Music and Physical Education in six week blocks, rotating throughout the year. Our club programme also includes Czech clubs that focus on a variety of sports and hobbies.
