Park Lane School Council

The newly appointed members of the School Council are very excited about beginning their first project. This year the children will play a prominent role in helping to improve our play time equipment and play times.

The School Council will meet regularly with staff to discuss ways in which our school can be improved. They form a vital part of our planning as they put forward the views of our students.

The members’ main job is to ensure that the views of the students are presented to staff in school. Suggestion boxes are situated in year group corridors and council members report back to individual classes with the minutes of meetings as well as asking the classes for their views and ideas on particular subjects.

The council is elected through a democratic process and consists of two children from year groups 2 to 5. PSHE lessons focus on how elections work before children are asked to take part in a class election. The children are then asked to prepare and deliver a speech to their year groups who are then asked to vote for two children to represent them on the Council.
