Czech Programme

The Czech programme is a significant part of the education of our students at Park Lane. Starting from Reception level, we offer lessons in Czech language for Czech children and also Czech for Foreigners for non-native speakers. From Year 2 the Czech lessons enable our Czech children to fulfill their obligatory school attendance required by the Ministry of Education.

This year we have worked steadily on synchronizing our Czech and English curricula so that we can achieve an even greater increase in the effectiveness of our teaching. In co-operation with our external Czech Advisor Renata Wolfova (who is a member of our Academic Board), we have worked on upgrading our internal Czech curricular documents that embed the features of both Czech and English national educational strategies. In line with these steps, we are also planning to replace the Czech handwriting with Comenia Script writing which is almost identical to the British cursive handwriting.

To extend the quality and effectiveness of our teaching we have also purchased a variety of teaching materials and resources, new Czech books and a special computer program Dyscom that enables the children to revise Czech grammar on the school laptops. Next year we would like to enrich our selection of Czech library books and Czech ICT materials even further.

The Year 2 Czech children are formally registered at our partner Czech schools where they take their Czech exam every year. Our goal is to keep the communication channels open with these schools so that they are aware of our children’s achievements. In the past the Czech children have been very successful in attaining excellent exam results and we are confident that we will be able to maintain this in the future.

Our children are regularly assessed by their Czech teachers during their Czech lessons. In addition to this children receive a twice yearly Czech report which is now, in line with the British style of report which incorporates attainment and effort grades as well as teacher comments and targets.
