Below, you will find information about the programme for the Nessie Foundation Stage and Reception Class. This shows the types of events planned that correspond with the themes the children are studying each month. This is not a schedule but an overview of the thematic approach to learning.

September: At Park Lane, we learn about Colours and Shapes in the month of September. Reception and Year 1 pupils visit the Kampa Museum for the Cracking Art Exhibition and create some of their recycled art. Pinkies and Nursery get busy creating wonderful masterpieces using the colours and shapes they learn about each day. They also welcome a very special guest artist to their classrooms.

October: We learn About Us. Children learn about themselves and their families. Children will be asked to bring photos of their family and share them with their new classmates and teachers. We have very special guests this month, with the Teddy Bear Hospital visiting our children. This is a wonderful event run by medical students and teaches children about the doctor and the hospital. Reception and Year 1 pupils also visit the Fire Department, as they also discuss the concept of community and community helpers. Our teachers also host a Halloween Party. The school will be decorated and the children dress in costumes of their choice.

November: Children at Park Lane learn all about Weather, Autumn and Clothing this month! We talk about the seasons, the daily weather and the clothing that we wear in the various months of the year. Year 1 children will also be participating in the first annual Mini Olympics at Park Lane International School!

December: We learn all about Christmas and Winter in December. We learn about winter, winter sports and Christmas. We welcome a visit from St. Nicholas and our children learn Christmas carols and prepare for our annual Christmas Show for parents. We bake Christmas sweets and we make presents for our parents.

January: Children start a new year ready to learn all about Food in the month of January! We invite parents to come and spend a morning in the classroom at our annual Coffee Morning.

February: Transportation is on the agenda for February! Park Lane pupils visit the airport and learn all about the different methods of travel. We also have Activity Week in February, where children will take part in different activities each and every day for one week.

March: Pupils at Park Lane learn all about Books, Nursery Rhymes & Fairy Tales in the month of March. We fill the school up with books, write and illustrate our own books. All classes will go to the Kampa Museum for either the Fairy Tales programme or the Structures Programme. 

April: Easter and Spring is the monthly topic at Park Lane in April. We plant seeds and learn about how things grow. The children will “take care” of the seeds and we will watch our garden blossom during this time of year. Our pupils will visit the Botanical Gardens as well as host Easter celebrations for our children. We make Easter decorations and take part in Easter Traditions, including decorating Easter eggs, games with an Easter stick and a competition for the best Easter Bonnet (hat).

May: Our pupils learn all about Zoo Animals this month and finish the month with a very special trip to Prague Zoo!

June: We end the school year at Park Lane learning about Summer. We will participate in a Sports Day and enjoy learning songs for our annual Summer Show. Pupils also learn about The Deep Blue Sea and enjoy a visit to the aquarium.
